Grant Award will help Eligible Latinos Access Vital Services

Dr. Mario De La Rosa, Director and Principal Investigator of the Center for Substance Use and AIDS Research on Latinos in the United States  (C-SALUD)  received $5.76 million in funding over a five year period beginning July 1, 2012 to expand the activities of his C-SALUD program.  The expansion grant, provided through the National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD), is the largest grant award in recent years in the college.  C-SALUD will focus on research, training and community collaborations with community based organizations that have a longstanding history of providing health and social services to Latinos at risk for HIV and substance abuse as well as other underserved Latino populations in South Florida.
