Dr. Mark Williams has been named to the MHA Guide’s list of 100 Great Health Administration Professors and Leaders. The list was developed in recognition of “the crucial role that professors and academic leaders play in the overall landscape of our healthcare system.” The list was based on a combination of factors which included personal achievements, leadership positions and the reputation of their institutions. The list is unranked, in recognition that all of the leaders named have made a geat impact on their fields and institutions.
Dr. Williams joined the Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work in 2011 as Professor and Chair of the Department of Health Policy and Management. He was appointed Associate Dean of Academic Affairs in 2012. Dr. Williams has an extensive record of research and publication, and has earned an international reputation for his research and scholarship in the area of HIV/AIDS. He has lead studies funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control as well as variety of national and international foundations. He serves on a variety of distinguished review panels and editorial boards. In addition to being a popular teacher at FIU he has taken a lead role in shaping the Health Policy and Management program at FIU, and is a leading figure in the continuing development of academic programs in the College.
