Dr. Das (second from the left) was presented with a second place award for excellence by the Society for Toxicology (SOT) at their annual conference. His poster, titled “Vascular endothelial cells exposed to PCB153 show increased expression of stem cell markers,” investigated the theory that malignancies depend on stem-like cells for proliferation. The judges from the Society of Toxicology Stem Cells Specialty Section were very impressed by his novel research. He presented his work to a very enthusiastic crowd of scientists at SOT’s 52nd Annual Meeting and ToxExpo in San Antonio, TX. Dr. Das is a research scientist in the Department of Environmental & Occupational Health working with Dr. Felty’s laboratory on the adverse health effects of endocrine disrupting chemicals.
