Drs. Mark Williams, Mario De La Rosa, and Mehmet Tevfik Dorak were named FIU Top Scholars for 2013
Three Robert Stempel College faculty were named among 2013 Top Scholars at the annual event held at the Ronald Reagan house.
Dr. Mark Williams was named as an FIU Top Scholar for his award from the MHA Guide. The MHA Guide is dedicated to helping prospective students identify top health administration programs. Dr. Mehmet Tevfik Dorak, an associate professor in the Department of Epidemiology received his award in the early career faculty with significant funding category. Dr. Dorak is an expert in the association between genetic factors and various forms of cancer. Dr. Dorak has recently received notice that he will receive a major award from the Department of Defense for his work on childhood leukemia.
Dr. Mario De La Rosa, a professor in social work, received his award as an established faculty member with significant funding. Dr. De La Rosa is the Director of the Center for Research on US Latino HIV/AIDS and Drug Abuse (CRUSADA). The Center is the home of an NIMHD funded Exploratory Center of Excelence, and has recently received renewed commitments for continuing NIH funding.
