Building Update

Building 6

In March 2014, the college will experience a momentous event with the opening of the Academic Health Center 5 (AHC5) – the new building that will finally gather public health, dietetics and nutrition, and social work under one roof for the first time, thus fostering an environment of collaboration and broadening opportunities for interdisciplinary research for faculty and students.

Building 1In addition to the Robert Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work, this $38.3 million building will house research faculty from the College of Arts and Science’s Department of Earth and the Environment, and the Extreme Events Institute facilitating studies such as the impact of hurricanes and other disasters on public health.

On July 19 2013, a “Topping Off” ceremony, a builders’ traditional ceremony held when the last beam is placed at the top of the building or when the overall completion of the building’s structure is reached, took place. You can find pictures of this event below.
