I am pleased to share this Fall 2013 issue of Breakthroughs with you. You’ll find stories about how our students, alumni and faculty are making a difference in the world. For example you’ll read about several of our students receiving scholarships, faculty presenting at renowned national and international conferences, new faculty and the expertise they are bringing to FIU, and ongoing research and the impact it has on our local and global communities. Excellence, quality, creativity and innovation are hallmarks of the people featured.
This fall we welcomed eleven new faculty bringing our total full-time faculty number to 70. We have also admitted over 570 undergraduate and graduate students and welcome back approximately 1,000 continuing students.
We will soon be in our new building, Academic Health Center 5 (AHC5) which will, for the first time in our short history as a college, bring us together under one roof. We are looking forward to the ribbon cutting which will be announced on our website and by email early next year.
We are proud to work with you and our partners across Florida and the globe. We invite you to join us in expanding our efforts and leveraging what we bring to the table – enthusiastic students, successful faculty, passionate alumni, and engaged community leaders. As a new academic year begins I urge you to support the college in our mission and in our quest to find new ways of bringing health and well-being to all.
I hope you enjoy this issue and the special people featured here. Please tell us about your own recent successes and developments by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks for reading.
