Meet the new members of Stempel
New Chair for the Department of Health Policy & Management
Owen A. Baillie, new Director of Development
An Eagle Scout and active volunteer, Mr. Baillie received a Silver Night nomination for his success in soliciting the support of local agencies to underwrite diabetes educational programs for at-risk youth in Miami-Dade County. Before joining FIU, he spent the past decade directing capital campaigns for institutions of higher and medical education in the northeast United States. There, his efforts secured over $15 million in charitable giving to establish scholarships for pre-matriculated minority and first generation college students within the fields of medicine, biomedical sciences, and health sciences. As Director of Development, his focus is to partner with individuals and organizations throughout our community to raise capital funding necessary to maintain and grow the educational initiatives for each department within the College. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration and Human Resources from the University of Scranton, and is currently pursuing an M.S. degree in Organizational and Non-Profit Management.
