“After reviewing potential faculty candidates in consultation with the Dean’s Transition Committee, I am pleased to appoint Mark Macgowan, M.S.W., Ph.D., L.C.S.W. as Interim Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. His appointment is effective immediately.

Dr. Macgowan has a long and distinguished career as an educator in the School of Social Work, and he has received multiple professional and university awards for excellence in teaching and research. He has held the Fulbright-Scotland Visiting Professorship at the University of Edinburgh, where he was engaged in teaching and research about global perspectives on evidence-based group work.

As a licensed therapist and supervisor of therapist trainees, he has significant clinical experience, mainly with persons with substance use problems and those affected by disasters. He currently serves as a mental and behavioral health specialist with federal, state and local government disaster response medical teams.

I am grateful to Dr. Macgowan for his willingness to serve as Interim Associate Dean during this transitional period. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Macgowan to this leadership role at our College.”
