Two Stempel College students were awarded national scholarships from the Academy of Nutrition Dietetics Foundation. Lukkamol Prapkree, a Ph.D. candidate, and Maria Aguado, a master's student, are enrolled in Stempel College's Dietetics and Nutrition program, which ranks 4th in the nation for dietetics and nutrition majors by College Factual.
"Our students are very competitive nationally, and it's no surprise these two talented students received these scholarships," said Dr. Evelyn Enrione, Interim Chair of the Dietetics and Nutrition program. "I am so very proud of them for seizing opportunities that will help them complete their studies, further their career choices and achieve new heights in our field."

Aguado received $5,000 as part of the 2021 Commission on Dietetic Registration Diversity Scholarship for the 2021-2022 academic school year. "This scholarship was meant to help increase the diversity in the field of Dietetics and Nutrition," said Aguado. "Being a
hard-working Hispanic female, I hope to use my education and experience in nutrition to help my community." Aguado accumulated a few loans to help her with her studies, and she hopes that the scholarship will help lessen the financial burden. She will graduate this fall and hopes to pass her RD exam and join the workforce. As for advice for incoming students? Aguado says to "never give up on trying something new and reaching out to your professors. They are always willing to help you achieve great things."

Prapkree received $1,000 as part of the Patsyjane O'Malley Scholarship for the 2021-2022 academic year. "Receiving this scholarship does not only provide me with financial support but also moral support in motivating me to complete my degree successfully," said Prapkree. "I hope to use my knowledge and experiences to improve the nutrition, health, and well-being of people." In addition, she shared that the scholarship will help her cover her tuition fees and dietetic internship and give her the peace of mind needed to complete her doctoral degree successfully. Prapkree will graduate in Spring 2022. After that, she plans to pursue a career as a registered dietitian in clinical or community settings to help improve people's health and wellness, prevent nutrition-related diseases, and delay disease progression. "My long-term career goal is to become an academic professor, conducting research and transferring knowledge and experiences to the next generation," she said.
